Built for Industrial Applications
I-S Series pumps are self-priming, solids-handling trash pumps used in industrial applications. Their self-priming design allows the pump to be mounted above the liquid being pumped, helping keep inspection and maintenance access outside the wet well or process area.
The I and I-S pump family are suitable for a wide range of waste-handling applications, including steel mills, paper mills, mining, food and beverage, energy, and manufacturing.
Typical applications include:
- Steel mills
- Paper mills
- Mining
- Food and beverage
- Energy
- Manufacturing
- Industrial waste handling
- Solids-laden liquids
Solids-Handling Impeller Design
I-S Series pumps use a multi-vane, semi-open solids-handling impeller. Pump-out vanes on the impeller shroud help reduce foreign-material buildup behind the impeller while reducing pressure on the seal and bearings.
The I-S Series is designed to handle solids up to 1-1/8 inches in diameter, depending on pump model.
Designed for Easier Maintenance
I-S Series pumps are designed with maintenance access in mind. Because they are self-priming, they can be mounted above the liquid being pumped, and service can be performed using common hand tools without disconnecting the piping. Accessible components include:
- Impeller
- Mechanical seal
- Wear plate
- Check-valve flapper
The rotating assembly can be removed without disturbing the pump volute or piping. Pusher bolts assist with removal, and a spare rotating assembly can be installed to help reduce downtime.
The mechanical cartridge seal is a double-floating, self-aligning, oil-lubricated assembly designed to simplify seal service and replacement while maintaining proper alignment.
Four-Point External Shimless Adjustment
All I-S Series models use a four-point, external, shimless impeller-to-wear-plate clearance adjustment located at the back cover assembly, or clean-out cover.
This design allows impeller-to-wear-plate clearance to be adjusted externally as wear occurs. The feature is used on the I-3S, I-4S, and I-6S.
